APL: On the 75 Anniversary of the Bombing of Hiroshima

On the 76th anniversary of the bombing of #Hiroshima, we continue to condemn the US use of nuclear weapons on civilians to ward off "the spread of communism" with the Soviet entry into the war. The dropping of nuclear weapons was not to "save American lives" from a potential invasion of already defeated Japan, but to expedite the end of the war to prevent Soviet influence in the area, a policy that would see millions more murdered in Korea and Vietnam.

The crimes of Japanese fascism will never justify the introduction of nuclear weapons to the world and the horrific murder of well over 100,000 people in an instant.

Disarm the US imperialist state! For a world free of nuclear weapons!
